Camp
Mowana is a very peaceful setting for our camp and at this time of the year it
is very beautiful. We want to keep coming to this place every year and so there
are some things that we would like everyone to know.
This
is a religious camp and no alcoholis allowed on the premises (I know it would
make interesting quilting but sorry ladies) No smoking in the buildings there are cigarette disposal containers available outside so discard
responsibly.
Snacks
will be provided each evening but feel free to bring some of your favorites.
They ask us not to have food in the rooms but we are welcome to use the
refrigerator in the retreat center and the kitchen facilities there. (no stove
but a microwave) If you have any food allergies please let us know so we can
let the kitchen know.
The
machines are open 24 hrs so if you want to quilt outside of class time you are
welcome. This is especially nice for those that are taking the demo classes.
There is time for you to practice what you have learned in class and if you
need some help don't hesitate to ask.
For
those that travel from a different time zone make sure that you have a buddy.
Last year a lady from California missed some of her class in the morning
because she overslept. Bring an alarm clock and just let someone know to look
for you at breakfast. It is a large enough group that I won't notice if someone
isn't there and we don't want you to miss out on anything.
Show
and Tell is Tuesday night. It is Awesome!!!!! I will have to make upa new word for it because it is so Awesome!!!!
Last year you ladies blew me awayand I
know some of the quilts that were shown last year won prizes at shows this year
so show and tell is not to be missed!I know that it is very tempting to bring more than one but we do want to
limit it to one item per person or we will be there all night. Newbies are
included so don't be shy. We all know what it feels like to be a beginner and
you will get a lot of support from this group. I also want the piecers to know
they are to bring something. This is a time for everyone to share.
Camp Store
We
will have a small store in the one small room in the retreat center. It will be open in the evenings. It was a little difficult
to keep track of everything last year so we have to be a little more official
about it this year. I have a new book, Jamie has new DVD's along with a book
which is awesome and Pam has
her wonderful stencils, DVD's etc. and Cathy will have things available also.
Sandra will bring some of the products that we all tell you about so they will
be available there instead of having to wait til you get home. SewBatik will
also send some backings so
you can load up on their wonderful backing fabric.
Machine Heads
(This is something that has to be prearranged)
I
may need extra machine heads. Last year everyone was quite generous and we had
more than enough. I will offer everyone who brings their own head for classes a
free hands on class. We will have the tables. I have 7 heads at the moment but
I know we will need more.
I
think that is it. If you have been to camp before you know it is relaxing along
with a ton of learning. If you have any questions please feel free to email me.
We are going to have a great year with some great teachers
so the last thing is to enjoy!
